Building out a bike, can I use Shimano cassettes with sram red shifter and derailer?
A Shimano chain ok? Also thinking about using a set of zipp cranks instead of the sram. Anyone familar with interchanging parts?
thanks, michael

thanks, michaelShimano & SRAM cassettes of the same "speed" are interchangeable with one another.
You should be able to use a Shimano chain; but, I do not know the difference in the dimension of the outer plates ... MY rule-of-thumb is to match the chain to the front derailleur; so, if you find the shifting on the front to be dodgy, then replace the Shimano chain with a SRAM chain.
You can use ANY crankset you want.
