  1. hello.

just a quick question. my bike has a wifli sram rear derailleur. got standard cranks. and an 11-25 cassette. now the question. if i replace my cassette with an 11-32, do i need to change the chain?

    thanks.

  2. Yes.

SRAM 11-speed recommends wrapping the large-large combination and adding 2 links or 1 link+ power link/Master link. Add link length as required to compensate for the cage length difference between the standard derailleur's cage and the Wifli cage length.

SRAM 10-speed derailleur setup instructions shows only a large-large wrap, also with the overlap of 2 links. Adjust cage hang position per instructions.

See also Sheldon Brown's website or the Park Tool website for their take on SRAM installations.

  3. FWIW. Depending on the length of the chain which is currently on the bike, I think that going from an 11-25 Cassette to an 11-32 Cassette may require an additional 8 "links" (that is, 4" of additional chain ... THE SAME CHAIN!!) ...

  4. thank you!
