SRAM cassettes?

I've been using an SRAM 8-speed cassette on my Ultegra-equipped road bike for the past few months. I
can't tell the difference in shifting. I have no comment on durability.

I got the SRAM because my LBS could get it in 12-26. Shimano does 12-25 or 11-28 in 8-speed. I've
used both of those and I commonly want something bigger than a 25 but I don't need the 11.

Compared to the lower-end Shimano stuff I've used, the only SRAM casette I have has been about the
same on shifting. Maybe a slight difference in the transitions to larger cogs at times; the Shimano
seems to get to the lower gear a little faster, but I haven't had skip problems with either one as
long as the adjustments were right and the chain and sprockets were not worn out.

I don't think I can say much about wear; I don't keep track of it closely enough to have real data.

I'd expect XT to do better on shifting, but it's not like I have a problem now.

My Fuji came with a SRAM 11-32, which I swapped out for an Ultegra 11-23 to get gears more to my
liking, and I can tell no difference in the shifting characteristics.

I have nearly three years on a SRAM 9.0 11x32 cassette. It is durable and shifts as well as the
Shimano XT it replaced. It is very light and very strong. The 7.0 is an equally nice cassette in my
mind, without the nifty carbon cog carrier :-) I think there is no better chain for the money than
the SRAM PC 69, which I use on my Mountain bike. I use the 89R on the road, not because it is better
but just because I bought a bunch and stock piled them.
