Well, not quite, but for a moment this afternoon I thought I might see
someone get squished as a result of failing to dominate the lane.
We recently had new security cameras installed at work. They're on the
LAN and we are all able to view the images from our desks. I've got
into the habit of displaying the images from two of the cameras in the
corner of my monitor - one overlooking my bike, one overlooking the road.
This is what the camera overlooking the road shows:

At the top centre of the picture, to the right of the drive, you can
just see the bottom of a wall. That wall is the front of a house and is
immediately at the edge of the road. We get a surprising number of
lorries going up and down this road, and I've seen them take the
guttering off the house on a couple of occasions. I think the white
line is the council's feeble attempt at preventing this.
Anyway, this afternoon I saw a cyclist riding *between* the house and
the white line (no mean feat). There was a car parked slightly forward
of the position of the red car in the picture. There certainly wasn't
room for a lorry to safely overtake a cyclist. Yet a lorry *did*
overtake the cyclist.
I was gobsmacked, and relieved to see him still riding after the lorry
had passed.
