  1. There was a thread a while back about squeaky SPD cleats. I had the same problem and no amount of
    lube or anything would cure it. I was using shoes which were dual purpose and had rubber nubs to
    assist walking. I found these rubber nubs were rubbing on the pedal and causing the squeaking. I
    used my Dremel tool and sanded the nubs down and the squeaking stopped. Another plus was the cleats
    now hook up easier. The nubs were just tall enough where I had to really push to hook up even with
    the cleats set to minimum strength. Jim
