I'm running Look A5.1 pedals with the red cleats (Nike shoes if it makes a difference). The right side cleat/pedal interface often times starts squeaking like mad about twenty or so miles into a longer ride. It's really annoying! I can get rid of it by spraying the cleat and pedal with some lube but I don't carry lube with me when I ride, so if I forget to do it beforehand, I'm S.O.L. unless I ride by a shop or something.
Anyway I'm wondering... Is there an adjustment I can make that will prevent this from happening? I've heard of shims that can be put under the cleats to "level" the cleat (or soemthing like that)... Is that possibly something I should check into? It never does it on the left side, only the right. I've noticed the same type of noise (albeit to a much lesser extent) with other pedal/cleat combos on the right side. Maybe it's something weird about my anatomy? Just looking for some suggetions.

This situation is common. Somtimes it is related to the interface position... like you guessed: your anatomy. Sometimes it is related to cleat and pedal wear. I have found that a good cleaning of all surfaces on the pedal, cleat, and shoe in the areas that contact the pedal helps. I have also applied a small amount of floor wax to all the mating areas. I end up doing this cleaning and waxing about once a week when I am riding 200 - 300 miles per week. YMMV, but it is worth a try.
Thanks for the replies! Sounds like there might be a problem with the red cleats that has been addressed by Look? I checked their web site and couldn't find anything on the new cleat. And I don't think you can run the black cleats with their "free-float" type of pedals.
