I fitted a Dura Ace 10 speed chainset (FC7800) on my TCR Giant about a month (900km) ago. The chain and bike are cleaned after most rides, though being careful not to get degreases in any of the bearings. Last weekend, during a particularly muddy on-road ride, the bottom bracket developed a squeak.
I have cleaned it all down as usual including refitting the BB/crankset. No better. The non-driveside sealed bearing feels as if it is sticking a little as it is rotated, can this be dismantled??
The threaded inserts in the carbon shell are parallel, and unlike some other posters, I have no problems sliding the axel into the bottom bracket, i.e. no hammers required. I have fond that the finger tightened lock “nut” seems to tighten itself over time???
Please help, the squeak is driving me crazy on the cold winter evenings!
