After a month or so of trying to trace an annoying squeak I finally found it! I'd removed everything that had a thread, greased it, and put it back. Greased up the seatpost numerous times.....bottom bracket, lubed and re-lubed the chain....pedals threads were greased up...pedals soaked in WD40....all to no avail.
Then...in a moment of clarity, I removed my cleats (Shimano SPD Roadies), greased up the screws that hold them to the shoe, replaced them....and NO MORE SQUEAK! :-) It's like riding a new bike! I'm sure my average speed increased too... ;-)
