  1. We haven't had a chain-lube thread on this NG for, what, a few weeks?
I took somebody's advice from the last one, and got some chain lube spray
from a motorcycle shop. Great stuff, but it has to be reapplied every
couple of weeks. The silicone spray I was using before would go about
    twice that long.
And now I drop by the local auto parts place for silicone, and see that
they've got White Lithium Grease in an aerosol can. Anybody ever tried
    that on a chain?

Soon, now that I know it exists. I tried Canola oil once in a pinch but
it didn't last that long, probably digested by those insidious bacteria.
Silicone sounds good in theory but has it's own drawbacks.
Boat trailer bearing grease is good, since it has to be pretty
waterproof but working it into the chain is not an on the bike job.
Lithium sounds good right about now.

What are the drawbacks of silicone?

As far as I can tell it is too thin and doesn't lube as well as heavier
    greases and oils.
    Just a hunch.
