  1. Hey Everyone, I'm new here, but I race BMX. I have kind of a silly question, but just wondering if anyone could help me out. Weekly we have these 16 inch races at our local track, and they can get pretty competitive. I'm putting together a starting out 16 incher, but only have 1 spare rear hub. The problem? .😕 well the 16 inch rim uses 28 spokes, while the hub uses 36 spokes. Does anyone know of a pattern that might allow me to use this hub?? I'd really appreciate any pointers. Ok, thanks all, the site looks great, specially cause I'm looking into getting into other parts of biking, not just BMX, trails, and park.

Check out http://www.damonrinard.com/spocalc.htm , or http://www.damonrinard.com/36-24.htm . It's not exactly what you're planning to do, but pretty close. You'd have to lace the hub 3 spokes, 1 empty, 4 spokes, 1 empty - repeat.
A normal 3X lacing will work
When the spokes on either side of the hole crosses you need to make these a tad longer (maybe 2 mm), when the spokes on either side of the hole heads away from each other you need to make them shorter.
Make sure you have sturdy hub flanges, because they will be more stressed when you're not using all the holes.

    Good luck!

  3. Hey, thanks for the link, it really helps!
