I believe they do. As from the front they are narrower than standard spokes and side profile is not much bigger then standard spokes.

The idea of a aero spoke is to increase the surface area of the spoke, aero spokes are not supposed to cut the wind, but to increase the surface area of the side of the wheel and act as a "sail" in the same application as a disk wheel, but also allowing for controlabilty. Steve Hed seems to have the concept down to a science. And he actually explained this concept to me in person, Mad Scientist of wheels
