I have a set of DT Aerolite 293mm spokes. What is the acceptable range a
given spoke will successfully work for? Can you go as much as 1mm longer or
shorter? More? Less?

to reply!!You can use them in applications specifying 294 especially if it is
front or left rear as they will stretch a mm under 100 kgf tension. You
could use them in a left rear asking for 292 as the tension is lower and
stretch is less. There is also a little variance of spokes as to how
they are measured and how they sit in the hub holes + whether they have
the head outside the flange or inside the flange. My target is to have
the ends of the spoke at final tension be within the range of the
beginning of the slot, but not past the end of the nipple. That way all
the threads are fully engaged and provides the most durability.--
