Spoke Diameters... What the hell!

That spoke will work fine with your hubs. Whether that spoke is appropriate for your build is a different matter, and a matter of opinion, too. If I were you I'd either contact a wheel builder to talk about your build, find a wheel building forum, or maybe best of all, call Vecchio's in Boulder and ask for Peter. He and many other wheel builders have more experience than anyone you'll find on this forum.

for standard hubs and rims the most important fact is the length of the spoke, 1.8mm or 2.0mm spokes for example have the same size on the hub hole for them. on proprietary wheels (modern wheels) you may find different hub hole designs, but you also need to know spoke's length, nipples seem to be a more standard deal, p.s. since ages i have two sets of wheels ready to go at all times, that will keep you on the road 90% of the time ! other mechanicals happen much less often
