My son and I are riding almost daily again. He's getting much braver now
and is starting to drop off of stuff. So I'm concerned about how often
some of the more agresive riders are getting their spokes retensioned?

If the spokes were properly treated during the wheel build (I used blue
Loc-tite) then they won't come loose on their own accord, even with
repeated drops. If they do come loose you'll hear some creaking from
spokes rubbing against each other... then it will be time to
retension.
Otherwise don't worry too much... occasionally check that the wheel is
true, and adjust if necessary, but a well-built wheel doesn't need much
maintenance.
