Well, a few days back I was riding my 26" uni that I got off of
unicycle.com (it was the one that was $66 because they were clearing
them out or something) broke. I don't know how it happened, but the
part of the frame that attatches to the lollipops -split- up the middle
of the forks for about 3 inches! Well, I really liked this uni, so I
figured out a way to fix it. What I came up was as follows:
*Bend the bottom of the forks back into shape so it fits
snugly over the lollipop. *Next, cut a 3 inch piece of 1
inch tubing to go around the broken seam (angle it at the
top) *Tack weld the pipe to the frame in the front and back
(providing they are both steel. If its steel and aluminium,
its done. Steel and aluminium don't weld together.) *Drill
out new holes in the pipe so you can bolt the frame to the
wheel *Put it a set of 8-point safety wire bolts in place of
the old bolts
There was really no reason to use safety bolts, I just
thought they looked cool!
Doing this to the 26 not only fixed it, but strengthened and
stabilized the ride. It may not look super flashy, but its a
very good ride compared to what it was. Just thought you
guys might find it a cool fix.
