I can't comment about these specific wheels, but I know my LBS stopped
stocking Spinergy because the quality was not exactly fantastic. Rev-Xs had
a tendancy to fall apart. Quite a few wheels had dodgy hub internals and
they just refunded the customers rather than getting replacements.

There seem to be quite a few Spinrgy wheels on eBay, which I wouldn't take
as a good sign! It should mean they're cheap though.

There are plenty of other wheels around like that. The nearest looks to be
the Mavic Cosmic Carbones. If you want 'aero' wheels there are plenty out
there, and many are a good bit lighter too.

Ahh yes, even though the original post wasn't about Rev-X as soon as
anyone asks aout a Spinergy product the old "Rev-x were faulty story"
is rolled out, but rarely by anyone with first hand experience. I
bought a pair of Rev-X off ebay used, 650s. They were great and for
$350 light, responsive and quick. But the 650 frame just wasn't what I
needed and I sold them as well as the bike about a year ago also on
ebay. I had no problems with the wheels and was so pleased with them
that I bought another used pair, this time 700's for my current bike.

These were supplied as is with a small "nick" on one support from
aparently the prior owner hanging his mountain bike by the front wheel.
Despite this the wheels were great, I had no problems with them, used
them for about 500 miles of triathlon races over the past year
including an IM Distance race and I'm a 200lb guy.

The only reason I don't use them now is that my GF bought me a Zipp 606
Wheelset for my birthday. You can see the Spinergys here at the recent
Montreal triathlon while I was cornering at speed, on a tight corner
and on the aero bars.

Click on the picture for a video. Spinning my Spinergy and Zipp front
wheels at 10MPH, the Spinergy with its original hubs spins for only
10-seconds less than the Zipps. Not bad given the age and comparitive
weight of the X-Rev to the Zipps

The X-Revs were an excellent early carbon fibre wheel. I'm sure like
any radically new product they had some early problems. What ever the
truth behind the X-Revs, Spinergy doesn't deserve to continue to get
dragged down by the same old stories.

That wasn't just the "Rev-x were faulty story". I also noted that their
other wheels have offered a lot of problems too. It was their spoked wheels
that made the LBS give up on Spinergy. They may be fantastic now of course,
but I've not seen anyone with them for a while.
