Biotest Laboratories Becomes First U.S. Corporation to Sponsor
Professional Track Cycling Team-Spike Team Created With Eye on 2008 Summer
Olympics
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-With the promise of returning professional track
cycling to the spotlight it once occupied nearly a century ago, Biotest
Laboratories announces the first corporate sponsorship of a professional
track cycling team in modern U.S. cycling with the creation of the Spike
Professional Cycling Team.
The Spike Pro Track team, consisting of eight of America's top male and
female track cyclists, will target the USA Cycling National Track Series,
USA Cycling National Track Championships, USA Cycling World Cup Qualifier
events and select World Cup Track events, according to team director Bill
Ramsay.
³This is an historic day for U.S. cycling and for this team,² says Ramsay.
³The quality of athletes and staff combined with the commitment of SPIKE
to the program ensures that this team will achieve great results. I
believe we are uniquely positioned to take track racing to the
professional level in the United States.²
In addition to financial support, the Spike team will benefit from the
scientific, nutritional and exercise science expertise of Biotest
Laboratories, an international leader in sports supplements since 1998.

In addition to the pro track team, Spike will be sponsoring the elite Cody
Racing Masters Team. The new Spike Masters Team will contest Colorado
road and track events as well as USA Cycling road, track and cyclocross
national championships in 2006.
Additional sponsors from inside and outside of the cycling industry will
be supporting the team with a range of products and services. Additional
announcements will be made soon after this month's InterBike event in Las
Vegas.
