We wonder if it is possible to walk this new section next year. Can anyone give us recent information about it?

It's very unlikely that the extsnion will be open by next summer. These things tend to take a few years to sort out - landowner permission, route planning, signposting, track repairing or even track making.
However, there is nothing to stop you making your own route. Scotland is very free for walking and access is very good.
Perhaps you could investigate by looking at some maps (try www.multimap.com as a starter, then get paper versions?) Once you have a rough idea of a route, ask this group again for comments.

There are many ways of walking up Strathspey, and the bit you are asking about is quite well provided with tracks and paths.
You may have to find your own route, but armed with an OS 1:25000 map you should have no problems with the lovely forests of Strathspey... Plenty of choice...
