The speedplay base plates on my Northwave Revolution shoes won't sit flat.
I recently switched from using a time-soled shoe--where I could bolt the cleat directly to the sole--to a sole with a three-bolt pattern. I bought new cleats and base plates and attached them to my shoes. Problem is, the base plate, when the three bolts are snug (don't have a torque wrench to gett the recommended tightness), doesn't sit flat.
I'm using the right snap-shim recommended by speedplay. I tried using the other rear snap shim. The fit was worse. I'm considering going without or sanding down the rear snap-shim. Does anyone have experience with this?

I've always had problems engaging Speedplays unless the cleat's base plate is flat. If I were you, I'd do what it takes to make it so. Sanding the larger shim sounds like a good option. I'm sure there are others.
