Hants CC has an important meeting on the 12th October; the Solent
Transport Strategy Panel. Quite a few cycle initiatives included but I
wonder what degree of public exposure the plans have had.

Maybe worth taking a look and leaning on your cllr on the Panel.

Full agenda here:

Details of capital programme and schemes, here:

Usual apologies for parochialism etc.

Hummm, I wonder just how with the quality of environment concerns they
see the University of Southamptons 8 coaches running with NO passengers
some days and less than half capacity most days from the outlying
hospitals to the School of Nursing and Midwifery and back. Add to that
the drivers sitting with the engines idling for over an hour sometimes
when waiting, loading the exhaust with particlates they discharge when
the pull away...Really not helpful for asthamatics!

Where you are running a regular service within a small market there
will be occasions where the bus runs empty/part full. The options
otherwise are that there is not a bus guaranteed when you need one so
you don't use the bus but other forms of transport.

Not acceptable behaviour. And why are they sitting idle for an hour?

The Unilink BUS service is fully loaded most of the time, these are
coaches that run everyday in the knowlege that they will never be more
than half full....

'cause they arrive early and don't want to get cold FWIT.
