This was the location today for the first walk of the long weekend. About
an hours drive along the coast from home at Denmead, north of Portsmouth,
but worth the drive. Suppose to be sunny in the southeast today .... but
that was wrong! Overcast, with a little fine drizzle for a short time, but
it didn't spoil the outing. Set out from Woodingdean across tracks and
paths south to Rottingdean. Passed into Saltdean and walked along the
shoreline to Telscombe Cliffs. Novel today as we stopped for coffee and a
cake at a cafe at the beach .... don't normally stopped in 'commercial'
places during my walks. Refreshed, we headed north to Telscombe village,
passing the rather quaint Telscombe YHA, then joined the South Downs Way
close to Southlease. Continued on the SDW over Mill Hill, Front Hill and
Swanborough Hill, before leaving the SDW to head back to the car over
Newmarket Hill.
No sunshine, but little wind and a very pleasant 12 mile walk. Slideshow
from along the route at the web address below.
