given the additional push from aso's shoulder, is there a move afoot to supplant the giro on the calendar? although not given to conspiracy theories, inflating the tour of california to even greater lengths (ultimately a grand tour) would fit in with uci's globalisation scheme by marginalising the giro and moving the cycling product to a wider (i.e., no longer euro-centric) audience.
by the bye, spit a bit on the keyboard as they were talking about the television coverage of the tdf. in my opinion, the italian television's coverage of the giro has always struck me as more picturesque, capturing both the trials of the race and the scenery which yields that suffering.
