  1. hello guys.. i am from greece and so very confused!

i just bought my first let's say 'good' bike, but i have so many doubts because every dealer said something different!

my problem is my size and the size of the bicycle

i am 1.55 cm, or about 61 inches or 5.08 feet tall [i am a girl]
and all different dealers said many different things..

finally i bought i bike 19.5 inches , but i have tried so many different sizes and heard of so many different opinions, that i am now REALLY confused!
    😕🙁😕

trying to find an answer to my problem, i found out this forum...

please i really need your advice
    thank you in advance
[to know if i should return it back and get the 17.5 inches or not.. which is another procedure because the dealer has no such sizes and he will have to make a new order.. that is why i want to know.. if it is worthy or not]

Do you feel comfortable on the bike? Does it feel too big?

Just as you got different opinions from bicycle shops, you will probably get different opinions here.

The bottom line is that if when you ride it you feel comfortable, then you are probably on the right sized bike...

I am assuming a diamond frame with this question. When you stand over the top tube, is there any space or does the top tube touch you? The "stand over" height, if it is too tall would be a problem. If there is a little space (an inch or so), then you are probably fine.

well yes, but if i stand on my toes, there is about 1/2 an inch...

what i didnt like on this bike, was the distance of the my hands to the handlebar...

the dealer made some modifications [the seat and the weight of the handlebar] ,kind better i guess... but i cant get out of my mind that maybe another bike, the 17.5 might be better

another question : the distance 17.5 or 19 it reffers only to the heigh of the seddle or even to the length from the top tube until the handlebar?

    thank you again 🙂
    bye for now

  4. If you have to stand on your toes to have clearance of the top tube, it is technically too large for you. I personally just bought a bike that is a little too big as well, so all I can say is that if you are comfortable on the bike, you are probably fine.

The size of a frame is the length of the seat tube, from the bottom bracket (where the cranks attach) and the top tube. From what I understand some measre to the middle of the top tube, and others to the top of it.

For me, even though the frame is technically too large, I have to have the seat post at the maximum height to have it adjusted properly, so it is really a personal call...

    Enjoy!
