  1. So there was an event today to honor a former student government
president, second generation student, president of his fraternity, and
fallen patriot Lt. Tyler Hall Brown today. They dedicated a Pi mile
trail, which is about 3.14 miles around campus. The trail is almost
identical to the course we used to run with Brown every morning when he
was my Battallion CO in Army ROTC for PT.

The trail begins and ends at the campus gym, so I headed up there
dressed to run it. When I get there, the ladies showing people where to
go try to push me in through the other door, saying "If you are just
here to work out go in that side, this side is for the dedication." I
look around and everyone is wearing suits and dressed nice.

So I am THE ONLY PERSON who saw "trail dedication" and thought that
people would be running on it. I decided that I would dedicate it
myself, and ran the course by myself. By the time I got back the
reception inside was over and everyone moved outside for the actual
dedication. His dad, who is on an important board at the university,
said some words, then the president said some words and presented the
    plaque and it was over.

Everyone went back inside for refreshments and they also had some nice
t-shirts they gave to everyone attending. If I hadn't explained myself
to the organizer lady when I first got there they would probably try to
cut me up for taking a t-shirt. They would have assummed I was just
there to work out and thought, Oh free t-shirt! and tried to yank one
while this dead hero's friends and family were watching.

So I paid my own tribute to this great man, the kind of guy who would be
president of the USA some day. I quit ROTC, and am alive, he was a
better men and went and died.

Back on topic, That was the first time I have run that far in 5 years,
it was only earlier today and my legs are already sore. Squats are
gonna hurt tommorrow, good thing it is only a 85% 10RM workout.

Reminds me of old doc sheehan, the runner's philosopher.

He talked about running by the church on sunday and all the fat, sick folks
giving him dirty looks. He would laugh at them and tell them he was being
reverent to his holy temple. They were just sitting around getting fat and
    desecrating their holy temples.

    Good on ya Bob.

You did it the right way.

You did it the way that your old Battallion CO would understand and
    appreciate.

Yes he would have, he loved to train us hard on the course.
Then we would stop by the stadium to run up and down every
step in the place. Good times. RIP.
