It is probably your chain rubbing against the front derailleur, I would think. -

I get this from time to time: the time I need to clean the cogs and chain. Try degreasing and relubricating. I use a product called "Krudcutter" to degrease and a motorcylce and farm equiptment spray lube to relube. It seems to last for about a month or so. Good luck.
