  1. But I signed up for one in October to benefit a local human services agency/non-profit. I am picking up steam again- more cycling, getting back to craving it. More of everything - ran 5k on the treadmill last night as a warmup to my PT session. Went outside in the 90 degree heat with the PT and did one hell of a tough workout, including running a steep hill. Seems that having something to train for is motivating to me. And what could be better to look forward to than a Century ride at the peak of Michigan's fall color season.

  2. Since you're up in Michigan, I would highly recommend the Apple Cider Century in Three Oaks. I did it in 2011, and hope to do it again sometime (probably not this year). That was my first and only century so far. It's a well-known, well-run, well-supported ride. They also have multiple distances available, so you can pick a shorter route if need be. The ride is typically near the end of September. When I did it, it was cool and rainy, which made a lot of people struggle, but I didn't mind--the coolness helped me push myself to stay warm, so I finished it with a much better time than I had hoped considering I hadn't trained near what I wanted to.

  3. Thanks. I'll look into it. Kind of the opposite side of the state from me, but I have relatives about 40 -50 miles from there.

What you really need to look into is the Michigan Mountain Mayhem.

  5. The Irish Hills Tour is one of my favorite Michigan Fall rides: https://register.mvadventurers.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=3

    Ride flyer: http://www.mvadventurers.org/Irish%20Hills%20Tour.pdf

Challenging, but not insanely difficult, terrain and a beautiful area of the state to ride thru.
