Snow Streaks

Shortly after snow starts, cars arrange snow in streaks on the roads. If you commute on a bicycle,
you have time to wonder why.

My best guess: often a vortex is created by a passing car. The air in the center of the vortex has
to be going upwards (downwards not being a choice because it would ruin the vortex by expansion;
upwards tightens the vortex).

Snow is kept airborne until it reaches the center, and then it's dropped by too-slowly-rising air.

That leaves a streak of snow where the vortex tip has been.
