I did a google search and found a couple of references
to "snipped chutney.' I also found recipes that
specified "Chutney, snipped." I think that snipped
chutney may be a description of chutney that has been
chopped or snipped. Strange,

Not all chutneys are the lumpy jam type that many people are
familiar with - simple chopped cilantro is a chutney. Could
it refer to this perhaps?

Perhaps. I looked at a couple of dictionaries, but they all
defined chutney as a pickled, sweet product.
