Is there any research on the fruity smell of a vegan? I swear that I
can tell who is a vegan and who is not after only 3 months of giving
up meat products!

It appears to be an issue of fatty acid consumption. I was a vegan
for over a dozen years, and there may have been some difference (from
the former "typical American" diet), but the huge change came when I
decided to avoid dietary PUFAs and oxidized cholesterol (except in
tiny amounts). Now, not only is there hardly any body odor, but I
only wash my hair once a week (and only with water) because it simply
never gets "greasy." The minor body odor that does occur has an
almost smokey quality, rather than the typical nasty kind. To read

There is an adjustment period (I and others have found) that lasts up
to a few months (and which may result in odd odors or at least
perceptions of it) but then the fatty acids are replaced and you
experience the incredible difference.
