Got on the bike this morning to come to work, first time in a while. A wee while ago I was muttering
about gear ratios as I wanted to make my bike easier to ride -

Anyway, to cut a long story short it's taken me over a month to fix the chain so that it runs
smoothly. I ended up doing it this morning and nearly slicing to top of my middle finger off when it
got caught in amongst the still rotating spokes.
So everything looked hunky dory, except the rear deraileur (sp?) travel, but I figured that since I
could still engage every gear except for first and last on the rear mech I would still be able to
get to work and back.
However, on the small ring at the front and on the third sprocket from largest, I can't peddle with
any force as the chain is either slipping or jumping. I think it's slipping as it's not making the
same sort of noise it makes when it really want to be in another gear.
I'm pretty sure that I got the length of the chain right, so I'm wondering what the problem is.
Could it be that my rear sprockets are worn and thus not gripping the chain, or something else...?
