Slipping Chain

Is it slipping because the chain isn't really getting all the way up on to the bigger ring, and is
sort of stuck between the rings instead? This would indicate that you either need to adjust the
cable using the barrel adjuster on the shift lever, or adjust the stop on the front derailleur.

For what it's worth, my daughter's first mountain bike was a Huffy, and it had this problem when
I got it. I spent all of about 5 minutes getting the adjustments set up right, and it was fine
after that.
