Hello, i hope you dont mind me posting this question to this group, i have also asked in uk.rec.camping I am asking here as i can see that you have a wealth of outdoors knowledge and thought you may be able to help!
I am looking to buy a mid sized tent for car camping. It is to accommodate 2 people *comfortably* and provide an internal area to cook and live in the event of rain... i live in Scotland so this is usually quite a high risk :-) I was looking at the 'Coleman Bi-Space 400' tent. Is this a good choice? It 'seems' to provide my requirements... The bigger brother the bispace 500 seems a bit excessive! I am not sure if the 300 seems a bit too small. I am 6' tall and would like to be nearly upright in the living area :o) The 400 gives a height of around 5'10" so its near enough... the 500 is well over 6' and the 300 is a tidly 5'5"

You might want to look at the Wynnster Buzzard 4 too. I have one and am very pleased with it. It has a room either side of the central area but if there were only 2 of you there is no need to put the second room up and you then have lots of storage space in addition to the living area. Internal height is 6'.

In a bit of a wind that living area will be pushed inward here there and everywhere. That two pole design for the living area is rubbish. I had a tent just like it, the Pro-Action for four people. It was so poor that when a pole snapped, I just binned the entire tent. Tunnel tents are more stable.

I've used an Aztec Lago 4 (almost identical to the Coleman) for the last 4 years or so and would generally agree with most of the above. Not a particularly stable design, constant guy line attention required, more pegs than I can be bothered to count and the living space is seriously compromised by the dome design, you'll very quickly acquire a permanent stoop.
Replaced it recently with a Nomad Masai II, just had our first 4 nights in it with rain, hail and strong winds and it performed superbly. Yet to find a single thing wrong with this tent to be honest, apart from the price maybe?
