I'm looking for a 3 season sleeping bag for as little money as possible and
ordered a synthetic for £22 the other day because I didn't think I could afford
a down bag. That was until I came across a British army surplus 58 pattern
sleeping bag for £20. I already have a standard army bag which is no good for
backpacking because of it's bulk. The 58 is two thirds of the size, and is still
too big to fit easily on the rucksack but I think that I could hang it off the
bottom with straps. It's size is -
Pack size 16(40) x 10(25) Inches (cm)
Weighs 2.1 Kg
What do you think ? Is it practical to hang it there or will it screw up the
balance ? I need it to be able to cope with -5C in comfort and I'm a warm
sleeper. Does anyone have any experience of this bag ?
and why oh why don't manufacturers use togs for rating ? - talk about making
life difficult !
