skipping

A cassette shouldn't be worn after just 4000 miles. You can check you
chain for wear by measuring 12 complete links; if it measures 12-1/16" it
should be replaced. But I don't think that's your problem.

Check for stiff links in the chain. Turn the pedals backwards and watch
how the chain threads through the der pulleys.

Freehub slipping is a possibility. Has the problem just appeared recently?
Had you done any maintainence just prior to the skipping? Does it only
skip on certain cogs? Are you using the correct chain for the drivetrain?

You need to describe the "clicking noise" better. Where does it seem to be
coming from? Does it occur once per pedal revolution? Wheel revolution?
Chain revolution?

i orginally thought the noise was coming from my bb so i replaced it. i thought it may have been something to do with my rear rim so i replaced that also. the noise almost sounds like the crank arm is hitting the frame

So the noise occurs once per pedal revolution. That would tend to rule out
a chain problem (assuming the noise and the skipping are related, which
may not be the case).

If you could borrow a different rear wheel, you could start to isolate the
problem to "something on the wheel" or "something else." Hard to tell
based on the information you've given.

Have you checked the chain-rings for wear and whether any teeth are bent? On
the clicking also worth checking the crank arm bolts are tight. I had lots
of slipping after changing my chain recently - turned out the chain-rings
were badly worn after the bike had only done about 1000 miles. (They were
cheap and made of soft aluminium I think).
