Was cutting through back streets near Heidelberg last night and I caught up to a guy on a light blue On One (is that the Pompeii or something??) that had a geared hub on it. The guy riding it had a messenger style bag and heaps of tats so I was thinking 'bike courier'. I asked him how the Rohloff hub went but it turned out that it was a Shimano Nexus 8-spd hub and apparantly it goes OK. Had a quick chat with the guy and it turns out that he wasn't a courier but is a bike mechanic at Strictly BMX. We chatted for a bit and I mentioned that I had a fixie and he told me that he has SIX FIXIES!!!!! I currently have six bikes but clearly can't compete with this level of street cred (although I do have a track frame in the process of being built as no. 7 so I guess I will have 2 fixies).
Anyway, I think he said his name was Gonz.......you rock Gonz!!!!
