Do any of you belong to a singles biking group? My husband used to belong to one but they booted him when we got married. We did not meet during a ride, so I'm wondering if that sort of thing ever happens? Can you meet your significant other while riding down the bike trail, road, street, etc.? It seems to me that the entire purpose of riding is getting exercise while enjoying the great outdoors. Would the extra challenge of trying to meet someone special at the same time be way too much to handle?

I still have to hear of that singles biking group. There is a women's riding group in the city where we previously live but I was not an active biker at that time yet. But in the village where I presently reside, most riders are male and not single. I'm sure those single riders have a lot of fun since obviously one facet of the group is the social aspect and probably match-making.

I'm not sure just how common singles biking groups are, but they do exist. I think in the winter time, this particular group that my husband belonged to, would become a hiking group instead but their excursions were never what I would consider actual "hiking". They just walked around for a few miles. They didn't wear packs or actually go anywhere interesting. They would just wander around as a group, which I found very weird.

Amusing concept, a single biking group for bicycle mating :p perhaps?. Never saw any group like that where I'm from. I could join a biking group for another more exciting purposes, like mountain bike hike groups or highway cycling. Or anything really, It sounds to me that the 'single' part is more important than the cycling one, since they booted your husband.

Exactly. Apparently it was the most important aspect of the whole group. And that gave me a chuckle when you mentioned bicycle mating. LOL. Hadn't thought of it like that before. It was just a really odd combination of interests. Is it a biking group or a lonely hearts club? To combine the two just seemed really strange to me but as you stated, it clearly was meant as more of a dating group than a biking club.
