Could anyone point me in the right direction for single speed sources in Melbourne and/or Australia...either online or shop based.

I see an SS in LBS' every now and again...but are there any stores that carry lots? Or online shops that have a few listed?

pretty-much any LBS can get you bits if you want them, what're you
after?
A track bike? An SS roady?

I'm after an SS roadie, but I'd like to find somewhere that has a few in stock, or at least some knowledgeable sales staff I can talk to. Spoke(n) in Melbourne had a converted Jamis Coda SS, but other than that, I've never seen an SS in a shop.

We've got 2 or three, I think. What's to know though? They're as
simple as it gets. Pick a ratio, get the right size & fit (same as any
other roady) and ride it ... Most of the big brands have a SS offering
or two so I'd expect just about every LBS would be able to get one for
you pretty quickly, and if you want to testride a ratio, just don't
change gears for a day :)

Name a suburb, and I'll try and name a shop.

Most shops can get access to a singlespeed road/track bike, but

Conversions? well just about any shop, but what had you in mind?
frame conversion with track ends or just a hub or bodge it with a
derailleur or singulator?

Knowledgable staff? they're everywhere just ask about!

inner city BSC, bikenow (ask for Dan), spoken , even CBD
slightly outer Malvern bikes, grand prix (ask for doug), St kilda
(jason or vince),

outer east cycle science mitchum,

online help fixed.org.au

(Looking for an excuse to mention them cos we all love them)

Abbotsford Cycles can help you out if you want to convert an old frame for SS duties... did my track ends for ~$150ish... can't really remember the exact price because they also took off my down tube shifters and a few cable guides...
