Single Speed Conversion

Once you remove the vertical frame ends and replace them with horizontal
ones you can just cut your chain to length and remove the derailleurs.

That makes it a single.

If you want it to look less cluttered, get a set of single chainring
bolts and a single speed wheel. A rework of your seven (freewheel?
cassette?) wheel may be possible. A shiny track chain might be nice.

Last Technium I saw already had horizontal drop outs. I don't have a
clue what year it was, unfortunately. The OP may not even need a chain
tensioner. But if he does have vertical drop outs, I think a tensioner
is a much more practical choice than getting a frame builder or welder
involved.

IIRC, newer techniums had vertical dropouts. FixMeUp is an amazing program
to pinpoint exactly what ratios you can use for a new chain in
semi-horizontal dropouts. Googlit!

Single speed, not fixed gear-get short, for one ring, chainring bolts,
mount the 42t on the inside, single speed freewheel if the hub is
freewheel type, otherwise some spacers and a single cog for the
casette, chaintensioner, IRD makes a nice one,Ders are off, keep the
brakes-done-go ride.
