Single Speed Bikes?

What are some good single speed bikes you've ridden before? I want to go fast and don't have to worry about any hills or anything.

"Speed" is a byproduct of the gearing AND the rider ... plus, the aerodynamics of the rider on the bike ...

• if you want to go fast, then you probably want to ensure that your bike has a a 50t-to-53t chainring + no larger than a 16t "track" cog or Freewheel

BTW. I think that for street riding, the frame is more incidental than you might think unless you want to pony up really big bucks on a state-of-the-art, Olympiad-ready frame & wheelset ...

1. if in doubt, then buy a ready-to-ride BIANCHI PISTA ... I think that the base model is still about $600 (MSRP) ... the more expensive variant is 2x as much ...
   
2. there are several OTHER well-known brands (e.g., Specialized, Pinarello, etc.)
   
3. if you are on a tight budget then there are a several Single Speeds on eBay which cost less than $300(US)
   
4. at the high end, the sky is the limit
   
5. you CAN also convert almost ANY bike to a Single Speed
   
6. and, of course, you can buy just a "track" frame & add suitable components
   

BTW. The frame's geometry will determine how "comfortable" the bike may be for you to ride -- "Track" frames are considered by many to be well suited for stop-and-go urban riding.
