Single piece crank to 3 piece conversion

The outcome was a 3-piece crank in an Ashtabula-sized BB shell, which
allowed better bearings, less weight an triple chain-rings.

The conversion was done with a kit not purchased at Harris Cyclery, but
as far as I can tell they all work about the same.

Remember that you need pedals, too. Worked well on the two that I've
done.

Just wondering, what kind of bikes did you do this too? I have this old
early 80's murray 10 speed. It's in nice shape but still has the single
piece crank yuck!

One was an ancient GKW[1] with 26" EA3 rims that was being converted
into a pseudo-English-roadster, and the other was a 1960s-era Schwinn
touring frame.

[1] GKW= God Knows What. In this instance, with no badges, no
decals, and a fresh coat of paint that had been applied after far more
work than the frame was worth in my opinion.
