Just given my bike a complete head to toe and am about to put the crankset back together. The little washers do they go between the big chainring and the crank or between the little ring and crank?????
the bike has 105 running gear if that helps

See advice from the late Boudreaux (Jim Price):

Thanks serenaslu and thank you Jim!🙂
which washers?
how big are they?
Are they 9 speed cranks?
unless you have unusual chainring bolts, the only washers are the 2 big ones that go on the 9 speed crank bolts, or, if you have 10 speed cranks, they should have washers for the each of the two 5mm Alen bolts on the left arm
The above link had the answer I was after. They are the small/flat washers and there are 5 of them.
