  1. Hey guys,

Do you have to ride 100 miles in one day for it to be considered a century? What about a 2 day, say, 180 mile ride (where you did maybe 90 miles a day?) Thanks!

I've seen the definition stretched a little, but not by 10 miles. For instance, a 2 day ride of 98 and 102 miles might be billed as a two-century ride. The overall total should be at least 100 miles per day to qualify for the term (IMHO).

  3. My bigest tour for 1 day was 182km. I am planing to have tour about 518 km in 4 or 5 day.

I agree, 100 miles in one day equals a century. A double century = 200 miles in one day.

  5. Who cares?

Seriously, what's so magical about 100, other than it's a nice round number and has a fun name to go along with it? Is this just a matter of having legit bragging rights? Is 100 mi better than 105 or 95? Round my neighborhood serious hills are hard to escape and 100% are a mile or greater in altitude...BELIEVE me that a century at sea level is easier than 50 mi in these non-stop hills at 6k-8k ft!
