  1. Hey - First time in this ng, but I've got a question and couldn't find an
answer anywhere online. We live along the SE coast and are fortunate to have
good access to fresh seafood. We usually prepare pretty simply, with a
favorite being shrimp just steamed then peel-'n-eat. We recently got a batch
where, after steaming, the vein was larger than normal, firm and had a
distinctly orange color. I had never run into this before, and overall the
shrimp were not very good. I thought I had a pretty good relationship with
this seafood market, located directly on the unloading dock, but I'm
wondering what he passed along to me. Any shrimp experts out there? Thanks
    for your thoughts.

    Sounds like roe.

Roe, probably. Why don't you ask at the place where you bought the
    shrimp?
