I don't know if the illness that's keeping me off work that causes this - but if I spin my bikes back wheel it seems to move from left to right... Failing optical illusion I'm guessing it's bent, or buckled, or "out of true" but considering the lack of punishment it's received I'm a little bit upset. Now when I was XX yrs old, that being 15 odd years ago, we to used approach a task like riding up a kerb by pretty much riding at it flat out, the more advanced rider pulling the front up at the last moment (Kids of that age raised on a diet of coal and powdered milk weren't really strong enough to bunny hop a bike made of cast iron and concrete). Back in them days everybody I knew had wheels that only fit a very liberal interpretation of "round", but we punished the bikes HARD, and a lot. 'Course these new wheels are made of 'aluminium'. In my motorcycle frame this is strong - as it is box section and really really really thick. In my bicycle wheels it is tiny little thin bits and gossamer-like little biddy spokes and basically aliminium is a really weak metal.
I'm told it's no big deal 'cos someone can just tweak the spokes with a little spanner and it'll all be better, might even look up a guide on how to do it myself, before saying "pah" and lobbing it at a shop. Anyone know any good links?
