  1. Well, I've sold my ancient MTB (I've had it since I was 14, and I'm
now about 10" taller than I was then!), so I have space in the shed.
I need to fill the space...

    I currently have a Trek 1000; it's a great bike, and I'm happy with
it. However, it suffers quite a lot on wonky road surfaces, and I'd
be interested in upgrading to something with a little more zip as
well. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've been looking at the
Trek 5000, which seems to have good reviews all around, despite
concerns about mass-produced bikes. On the other hand, my brother has
recently ordered a bike from Condor for his commute, and I was
considering looking in that direction or some other more custom-built
    supplier.

Budget is around £1000, top end; I don't tend to do any off-roading
but some of the roads around here are somewhat lumpy.

If/when I do buy something, I'll post photos... complete with Marmite.

  2. Touring bike from Hewitt, about 800 quid.
