1. A friend is getting into cycling and is having trouble locating shoes that fit. Anyone have insight on a brand that makes size 52 or 54? He'll be riding mostly road, but a mountain shoe would probably work just as well. Thanks in advance.

  2. Sidi does Mega-Sizes up to 52. Finding them in stock? Good luck!

Any brand of 52-54 is very likely going to be a special order. The one good thing about having canoes for feet (aside from impressing the ladies!) (or ballerina tiny dancer feets) is that any in-stock closeouts are damned near give-away prices.

Has your friend tried 1-800 to all the usual suspects? The larger mail order joints, including the Euro houses, may be his best bet at a deal. Just sit next to the laptop and be ready to Google up an image and be flexible with the 'look' of a shoe as long as the shot at a good fit was there and the return policy was well understood by all.

...and then there's that custom shoe builder that will not only give you Mercury's Gold Fleet-Of-Foot spiffy shoes; He'll give you an extra 100 Watts of powah!

Rocket7 goes up to a 53 and is custom built to fit canoes, ski boats and trans-Atlantic liners: http://www.rocket7.com/# Not an inexpensive solution, but might be a way to go.

Bont will do semi-customs in your friend's size range...again, just an option for a shoe manufacturer lots of people have had good comment on.

  3. Campy - thanks much for the info! I will pass along. Was wondering how long it would take to involve the ladies in this thread

  4. I knew a young lad with size 15 feets. His girlfriend had a permanent smile on her face!

You might also go over to Velo New's website and ask Leonard Zinn to explain the options available to the Big & Tall.
