Just been washing my absolutely stinking mountain bike. Now turning the handle bars makes a grinding noise from the bearings. I guessing some sort of seal must be shot for that to happen. Its a relatively new bike tho so will a bit of cleaning inside the head tube sort things out? Its a saracen ariel 1 mountain bike.

You won't know until you open up the bearings and check but I think you'd need to clean and regrease them at the very least.

Are you one of those weenies that use a pressure-wand to hose off your bike? Garden hoses are almost as good, and for the same reason. The seals don't hold up well to these things, and so we must re-grease and seal after such abuse. Are you sure this isn't the bike you boosted along the road before? :-)
