Try it. Squeal seems very sensitive to setup with these brakes. If they
squeal without toe-in, try them with a little toe-in. If they squeal with
toe-in, try them flat. If they squeal with toe-out, try a change of pads.
If they squeal with new pads, try a brake-booster, or try them on a
different bike.

A Googlegroups search for [XT V-brakes squeal] will find you a lot of
complaints, and a lot of suggestions, none of which are guaranteed to work
for you, but one of which might.
