Shimano STI Shifters

Current 8 and 9 speed shimano shifters are flite deck capable.You can tell by the raised 'buttons' on the inside side of the hoods. Campy also has their version too.

As far as I know the 1500 is Flightdeck compatible.

When using the Flightdeck cadence option you must just remeber that the reading is a calculated value according to your speed, gear and wheel size. I've cross checked the reading with my Polar cadence sensor and, when pedalling, haven't found any differences. It does look funny when you stop pedalling and the cadence shows a reading of 159rpm though, but you can get used to it.

Note: Shimano produces STI levers without the "Flite Deck" buttons, for those of us who prefer other computers, or no computers. Check the bike you're buying to verify that the levers have "Flite Deck Compatible" on them; otherwise, the shop can change them for the more expensive "FDC" type for a few $ more.
