Shimano roller brake squeal

I ran mine in brutal winter salt and serviced it at least once per
year. Very simple if a bit messy. I think shimano wants you to use
their grease and squirt it in a port to displace the old grease, but
you don't have to do it their way.

Take the brake off the bike--it's pretty obvious on how to do this.
Degrease with WD-40 or similar, then some citrus Simple Green stuff,
finally rinse it all clean and let dry. Then work in some high
viscosity grease with your thumbs or use that little port and somehow
squirt it in. I like Phil's for these brakes as it's thicker than the
automotive grease I run in my hubs and seems to stay put better. Sorry
if I can't be any more clear, as I no longer have the bike. 🙁

Anyhow, I've repacked one half a dozen times with Phil's and it braked
exactly like when it was factory fresh.

Thanks. I have a grease gun I can use to squirt grease in through the port.
